Obituary of Jeanette R. Jones

Jeanette R. Jones, age 84, passed away April 9, 2015. Jeanette died peacefully of organ failure, surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She faced complications from dementia and Alzheimer’s with courage, wit and grace, supported by her loving family. Preceded in death by husband, Fred and son, Randy. Survived by children: Bill, Patty, Mike, Kathy (Ken), Doris (Kent), Timmy, Susan (Carl) and Marilyn; sister, Arvilla; brothers: Bobby, Wally and Gerald; 16 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. She spent her early childhood in Watkins and was raised by her beloved grandmother, Gertrude. Jeanette was the first in her family to graduate and was an honor student in the 1949 class of Mechanic Arts High School. She and her best friend went to California after high school where she met and married Fred Jones. She eventually returned to Minnesota as a homemaker, raising nine children in St. Paul. Family was very important to her and she devoted herself to all of them, immediate and extended. Celebration of Life will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at Cremation Society of Minnesota, 1979 Old Hudson Road, St. Paul. Visitation will be from 6-7:30 p.m. prior to the service and dinner will follow the service. Interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery on Monday, April 20, 2015.
