Helmer Pederson

Obituary of Helmer Jerome Pederson

Helmer Jerome Pederson “Pete”, age 89, died peacefully in his sleep on April 10, 2015. Helmer “Pete” was born in South Dakota, the youngest son of Norwegian immigrants. Survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Patricia Nyleen; daughters Mona (Todd) Koebele and Joan; grandchildren Tia, Ky, and Rachel; three sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews. Pete is reunited with his parents, Helmer and Serina (Sina), and eleven siblings: Palmer, Idan, Henry, Ted, Chester, Kenneth, Gordon, Duane, Amiee, Lenore, and Martina. Above all else, Pete cherished the time he spent with his family. Throughout his lifetime he was fun loving, an avid bridge player and a serial grandchild spoiler. His smile was radiant, he was kind to the core, had an amazing memory for dates, and always enjoyed a good laugh. At heart he was a strong, faithful, South Dakota farmer. Pete demonstrated his love of The Lord in his daily life. An eternal optimist, he always spoke highly of everyone he met. He loved well and was well loved. A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held for Helmer on Sunday, August 9th at 2 p.m. with visitation the previous hour at the Cremation Society of Minnesota, 7110 France Avenue S., Edina, MN. A social gathering with refreshments will be held after the service at the Applewood Point Co-op, 8341 Lyndale Avenue S., Bloomington, MN. We invite all who knew and loved him to attend.
