Obituary of Alvin F. Jones

Alvin F. Jones, age 88, long time resident of Big Lake, passed away peacefully at home on April 12, 2015, surrounded by his loving family. Alvin was a devoted husband to wife, Shirley, married for 67 years, and loving father to eight children. Alvin was a successful jeweler and watch maker who started his own business in Omaha, Nebraska when he was just 19 years of age. He later relocated his family to Minnesota where he founded Jones Manufacturing and Classique Jewelry Store in Monticello. He enjoyed time with family and friends in Arizona and loved sitting on the swing at home with his wife watching the lake. He loved music and enjoyed playing the trumpet along with his musical sons whenever he got the chance. He was admired by many for his strong faith and honorable integrity. His generosity, quick wit and gentle soul will be greatly missed. Alvin is survived by wife, Shirley and children, Edward (Rosanne), Albert (Betty), John, Robert (Theresa), Terri (John), Martin, Phillip, Anne (John). Alvin is also survived by 20 grand children and 33 great grand children. Funeral & Visitation Services to be held at Mary of the Visitation Catholic Church, Big Lake, April 16th. Visitation at 9:30a.m., Funeral Mass Service at 11:00a.m. Private interment ceremony at Mary of the Visitation Cemetery.
