Obituary of Alex Johnson

May 11, 1954 - April 17, 2015 Alex Johnson, loving husband, father, brother and grandfather, passed away on April 17, 2015 at the University of Minnesota Medical Center in Minneapolis, MN. Lex was born on May 11, 1954 in Miami, Arizona to Carl and Bernice Johnson. Alex served his country in the Armed Forces from 1971 - 1973. His hobbies were working on cars, fishing, camping, collecting firearms, and he really enjoyed spending time in the company of good friends and family. For most of his early life he lived in North Dakota where he met his loving wife Paula on April 6, 1979. He was previous married to Linda Grenier. Lex and his family have lived in Minneapolis/St Paul MN since 1988. Alex is survived by his wife, Paula Johnson, children, Robert (Rob) Johnson, Jessie Johnson and Anthony Johnson, his granddaughter Aaliyah Johnson; his brothers and sisters - David (Dave) Longie, Kim (Longie) Klien, Tammy (Longie) Tate, Lorna (Lori) McKay and Robert (Rob) McKay; his Aunts - Sharon and Gloria, his Uncle Bobby; as well as many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his sister Carol (Johnson) Olson, uncles Albert Gunville, Alex (Junior) Gunville, Aunt Patsy Gunville and his Grandparents. Services will be held at 5:00 pm at Cremation Society of MN, Minneapolis Chapel, 4343 Nicollet Avenue South, Minneapolis, MN 55409 on Thursday April 23, 2015. There will be a gathering prior to the Services starting at 3:00 pm, also at Cremation Society of MN with a short reception following the service and a celebration of Alex's life, with a bonfire, at his sister-in-law, Teresa Malone's house at 5752 Clinton Ave South, Minneapolis, MN 55419 starting at 7:30 pm.
