Obituary of Nancy Ann Fincham

Nancy Ann (Anderson) Fincham Fincham, Nancy Ann (Anderson) 86, of Burnsville, MN, passed away on Friday, May 8, 2015 at Traditions of Frederic. Nancy was born on July 8, 1928, a daughter of the late J. Erick Anderson and Agnes S. (Nelson) Anderson in Minneapolis, MN. She attended public schools in Minneapolis and graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1946. On September 11, 1948 Nancy married Roy E. Anderson in Minneapolis. They had two sons while living in Minneapolis, Erick R. and Steven W. In 1953 the family moved to Frederic, WI where Roy was the plant manager for MPM. In 1956 their third son, John E. Anderson was born. Nancy was very involved in her sons' lives when they were growing up. She sewed clothes, knitted caps, mittens, and socks, she taught Sunday school, she was a Cub Scout den mother, she made sure that the boys toed the mark in school, and that they were polite and had good manners. She also enjoyed family camping trips, playing bridge and golfing. In 1964 Nancy took a job in the office of MPM and worked there until she retired in 1984. When her husband, Roy, died in March of 1989, Nancy started a new chapter in her life. She did some traveling and continued to display her artistic talent for needlework and knitting, now for friends and grandchildren. At a class reunion, she got reacquainted with Stanley Fincham, a former high school sweetheart. They eventually decided to get married and the ceremony was performed on February 14, 1992 at the home of her sister, Sonja Sorensen, in Glen Ellyn, IL. She and Stan lived in Minnetonka, MN and eventually moved to Pine River, MN, where they had a lake home on Lake Hattie. They would spend 8 months at Lake Hattie and then they would winter in Berrago Springs, CA. Stan was involved in a serious automobile accident in August of 1998 which would require hospitalization for 10 months. During this time they purchased an apartment at Parkway Cooperative of Burnsville. They continued to travel to Berrago Springs for the winter until Stan's death on July 10, 2004. After Stan's death, she took several trips with friends, she remained very active in the special event activities of the Parkway Cooperative and she continued to knit an amazing quantity of beautiful caps, mittens, scarves and other items. Her years at Burnsville were happy ones surrounded by incredibly warm, fun-loving and caring friends. It should also be noted that her Swedish heritage was important to her throughout her life; she never forgot the language or the holiday traditions. Preceding her in death were her parents, J. Erick and Agnes Anderson; her first husband, Roy Anderson; her second husband, Stanley Fincham, and her brother, E.W. Anderson. Nancy is survived by her sons, Erick (Pamela) Anderson of Webster, WI, Steven (Vonnie) Anderson of Frederic, WI, John (Lori) Anderson of Stillwater, MN; six grandchildren, Beth (Russ) Everson, John (Norah) Anderson, Stephanie (Kevin) Jensen, Sean (Jessica) Anderson, Amy (Greg) Thompson and Wade Anderson; 7 great-grandchildren, Olivia and Chloe Everson, Carson, Royce and Sullivan Anderson, Taylor Jensen, and Ava Thompson; sister, Sonja (Gerry) Sorensen; sister-in-law, Shirley Anderson; and many nieces and nephews. There will be a small gathering of family and friends this summer at Maple Grove Cemetery for her final farewell.
