Obituary of Joseph Mathew Lasky

Joseph Mathew Lasky passed away May 9, 2015 after a short but courageous battle with lung cancer surrounded by loved ones at Solvay House in Duluth. Joe was born Sept. 10, 1932 in Virginia, Minn. He joined the Air Force and served his country during the Korean War, and while stationed in Tokyo, Japan he met and married the love of his life, Mamie Yoshii, on Aug. 11, 1955. Joe retired in 1993 as St. Louis County Court Administrator. He also continued to serve on the Duluth Airport Authority board, and was director of the DWI rehab clinic for many years. Joe enjoyed traveling with his wife and family, golfing with friends and joking and laughing. Joe is survived by his wife, Mamie; his daughter Jo Ann Roy (Tom); sons Joseph Jr. (Wendy), Roger (Anaik), Tony (Marva); grandsons Trevor Roy (Boua), Mathew Lasky, Andrew Lasky, Luka Martin-Lasky; granddaughters Chelsea Roy and Kiana Martin-Lasky. Joe and family want to thank the staff at both the Solvay House and St. Mary's for their expert care and kindness. A private service will be held for immediate family only.
