Obituary of David Lee Kinney

David Lee Kinney, age 58, of Eden Prairie, passed away unexpectedly on April 15th, 2018. David, better known as Dave, was born on January 30th, 1960 to Betty and Lee Kinney. Dave graduated from North High School and studied at UW River Falls where he double-majored in Psychology and Computer Science. He went on to pursue a career as a computer programmer first at St Paul Companies and went on to start a successful business with a couple friends/ colleagues while continuing to work in the technology field. Dave had an incredibly strong work ethic and found great purpose in his career, often finding it difficult to take time off. He also found great purpose and joy in raising his two children Andrea and Dan and he was a devoted father. Dave had a great sense of humor and an infectious laugh. He could joke around with close ones and strangers alike. He had many hobbies and interests, including cars, technology, golfing, fishing, summers in Hayward, WI, traveling and putzing around the house - able and very willing to fix most anything or help solve someone's computer problem. Dave also enjoyed learning about history and astronomy. He loved warm weather and most recently visited one of his favorite places, San Diego with his parents and kids and they spent plenty of time near the ocean. Dave is survived by his parents, Betty and Lee Kinney, children, Andrea and Dan Kinney; wife, Ruzhen Yang; brother and sister-in-law Jim and Jan Kinney, and numerous other relatives and friends. No services will be held at this time, but a celebration of life will be planned for this June.
