Obituary of Edward Colquitt Minor
Ted Minor, 72, formerly of Courtland, VA, passed away at Benedictine Health Center in Duluth, MN on May 22, 2015.
Ted was born in Baltimore, MD, had a bachelor's degree in Economics from Western Maryland College, and a law degree from Boston University School of Law. He practiced law at firms in Baltimore, MD, and Savannah, GA, and in the U.S. Army J.A.G. Corps. While in the army, he was awarded a Bronze Star and an Army Commendation Medal. He eventually settled in Franklin/Southampton County, VA, where he worked as associate and general counsel at Union Camp Corporation. In Georgia and Virginia, he was active in the community, serving on several organizations' boards. He was a member of the Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Franklin,VA, St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Courtland, VA, and St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Duluth, MN. He moved to Duluth in 2012 to be near family. Ted loved sailing and canoeing, growing orchids, and birdwatching. He was a wonderful husband, father, brother, and grandfather.
Ted was preceded in death by his parents and by his wife Joan. He is survived by his daughter Elizabeth, son-in-law Jay, grandson Ben, sister Alice, brother Bill and many nieces and nephews.
Ted's family deeply appreciates the wonderful care he received from the staff of Home Instead, Westwood Assisted Living, Westwood Terrace, Lighthouse of Superior, and Benedictine Health Center.
Services: A memorial service will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Duluth, MN on Saturday, May 30 at 2 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association Minnesota-North Dakota, 7900 West 78th Street, Suite 100, Minneapolis, MN, 55439.
