Obituary of Joy Olson
Joy Olson, 89, of Duluth, passed away on May 26th, 2015 and was reunited with the love of her life Gordy, in heaven.
She was born on January 15, 1926 to John and Margaret (Schuck) Patton, in Duluth.
Joy worked as an operator for NW Bell Telephone and after her children were out of school at Maurices Distribution Center. She loved camping at Timberline Campground with her husband and the great friends they enjoyed the summers with. She also loved to cross stitch and crochet blankets.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Gordy (2001), sister and brother-in-law Dolly and Lee Jensen and brother Richard Patton.
Joy is survived by her daughters Julie Olson, Bonnie (Bill) McLellan, Jill (Don Jarvis); son Gordy Olson; grandchildren Bill McLellan, Cory Olson, Chad Olson; great grandchildren Alex and A.J. Olson
Joy’s family wants to thank the staff on the 1st floor at St. Eligius for the care and compassion they showed her for the past 9 months and also St. Mary’s hospice staff on 3N for keeping her so comfortable the last 5 days of her life.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, May 30th at 3 pm at First Memorial Funeral Chapel, 4100 Grand Avenue, Duluth, with a visitation one hour prior. Burial will be at Oneota Cemetery. 218-625-5050.
