Obituary of Jeanne Ann McKenzie

Jeanne Ann McKenzie June 1, 1943 – April 16, 2018 Jeanne (Jacksino) McKenzie, 74, passed away on April 16, 2018 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. She was born June 1, 1943 in Superior, WI and grew up in Hawthorne and Poplar. Jeanne graduated from Northwestern High School and the University of Wisconsin Superior with a degree in education. She worked as an elementary school teacher in the Duluth School District for 30 years and especially loved teaching children to read. Jeanne retired from Rockridge Elementary School in 2008. Jeanne was an avid Packer-Backer and raised her children and grandchildren to be Packers fans too. She was a proud shareholder in the team, visited Lambeau Field and never missed a game on the radio. Jeanne enjoyed gardening, walking on the Lakewalk with friends, reading and listening to music – especially Elvis. She was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church in Lester Park for many years. Her family would like to thank her caregivers at Lakeshore in Duluth and especially her care managers at Sunrise of Golden Valley who cared for her like she was their own mother. Jeanne was preceded in death by parents Anthony and Lucille Jacksino. She is survived by her daughters Michelle McKenzie (Jason Gillem) and Kristine McKenzie, her sister Bette Rookey, her beloved grandchildren Zach and Mara Gillem, nieces Melissa Winkler, Erica Medure, Karen Edwards, Jennifer Beyer and nephew Kevin Winkler. Memorial services will be held at 3 pm on Thursday, June 28th at the Cremation Society of Minnesota in Duluth with visitation one hour prior to service.
