Obituary of Kristi Lynn Brown

Kristi Lynn Brown, 64, unexpectedly passed away from natural causes on August 8, 2022.

Born the fourth daughter of E. Darlene and Lewis D. Brown in Fort Atkinson, WI, she was a lifelong resident of Duluth, MN.

After attending Lester Park, Ordean, Bangsue & Bangkapi (Bangkok, Thailand), and East High schools, Kristi graduated from the College of St. Scholastica with a B. A. in Nursing in 1980. She was a career oncology nurse for St. Mary’s/Essentia Health in Duluth and Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee, WI. Kristi created and led the Midwest Diagnostics Home Care program for several years. Recently she segued to Nurse Care Line, continuing her caretaking and exceptional nursing skills, interacting with countless patients across a four-state territory. She was the first at St. Mary’s to become certified in Oncology Nursing. Kristi received two Employee of the Year Awards - in 1986 from St. Mary's Medical Center and again i 1989 from HMSS - in recognition of the dedication and exceptional care she gave to those who needed it the most. Taking care of people was her gift to the world.

Her charitable nature evolved through her membership and participation with Job’s Daughters (Past Honored Queen, Bethel 72), Beta Sigma Phi Preceptor Epsilon chapter (42 years), Lakeside-Lester Park Community Center (president), and facilitating the “We Can” Weekend for cancer patients and their families for years. What epitomized her generous nature were the Christmas stockings she created and delivered for over forty consecutive years to St. Mary’s cancer patients in hospital on Christmas. Genealogy and traveling extensively through Europe, the British Isles, and Southeast Asia were among her treasured experiences.

She is survived by her mother, E. Darlene Brown; sisters Vicki L. Boyer, Patti L. Villars and Darci L. Wutz (Richard); brother William D. Brown; niece Serena L. Brown and nephew Michael L. Brown, along with a slew of relatives across the country whom she loved very much.

Kristi was preceded in death by her father Lewis D. Brown and sister Joni L. Woodward (John).

A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, October 22, 2022, at the coppertop First United Methodist Church, 230 E. Skyline Pkwy in Duluth, MN. Visitation will begin at 12 noon, followed by the service at 1:00 pm.
