Obituary of Parviz Ghazi
Parviz Ghazi of Oakdale, Minnesota passed away on October 5, 2020 after several months of declining health. Parviz was born on July 12, 1945 in Tehran, Iran to Khalil Ghazi-Tehrani and mother, Effat Afsarian. He came to the United States in 1967 where he attended Iowa Lakes Community College in Estherville, Iowa and met and married Theresa Schacherer in 1968.
The couple moved to St. Paul, Minnesota where Parviz was employed as a chemist at 3M Company. Parviz graduated in 1972 from the University of St. Thomas with a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering. That same year he returned to Iran with his wife and son, Darius.
He lived in Iran from 1972-1980 where his second son, Kaveh, was born. During this time, he was employed in various management positions in the cement and concrete industry. He returned with his wife and two sons to the United States in 1980 and lived until 1994 in California where he worked in the aerospace industry. In 1994 he returned to Minnesota where he was employed for several years by Cemstone and Twin City Concrete in their laboratories.
Parviz was known for his honesty and integrity, his love of family and friends. He never missed an opportunity to share his time ,or table, with loved ones. He also had a great appreciation for literature, classical music , and his heritage.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years Theresa, sons Darius (wife Susan) of Eastvale, California and Kaveh (wife Roxana) of Woodbury, Minnesota, sister Farzane Ghazi of Tehran, Iran; granddaughters Sasha, Jasmine, Natalie and several beloved aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and lifelong friends.
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. He will be greatly missed.
