Obituary of Paul Allen Mott
Loving husband and father, Paul Mott, 62, of Bloomington MN, died tragically May 24 while doing what he loved – kayaking, fishing and photographing nature – in the place he most loved – Long Lake. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Sherry, with whom he created a home filled with love and laughter for their sons Alex and Ryan.
Paul lived life to the fullest and he was a wonderful man. An outdoorsman, he enjoyed a wide range of hobbies and activities ranging from photography, golf and hiking to fishing, boating and skilled carpentry. He took yearly ice fishing trips with his extended family and was an enthusiastic participant in Long Lake’s annual 4th of July boat parades. Paul’s pure love of music was insatiable. He listened to and loved everything – except Queen. He was an excellent chef and he knew it. His creativity showed in the kitchen and at the grill; he loved to spice things up.
Paul was a skilled laminator and mounter, employed most recently at Pictura. He proudly became a Mason in 2011, following in his father’s footsteps. He volunteered every December with his fellow Masons to deliver gifts to children at the Masonic Children‘s Hospital.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Curtis and Donna Mott, his brother, Kevin Mott, his aunt Sharon Johnson, and his father-in-law, James R. Alexander, and great friend, Mike Case.
He will be dearly missed by his wife of 28 years, Sherry, and sons Alexander and Ryan of Bloomington; his brother Steve (Joanne) and their daughters Angela (Luke) Driscol and Paul’s great niece, Madelyn Driscol, Rachel Schlotfeldt (Tyler); his sister Sue Tupy (Ron) and their children Amanda Marino (Pete) and Paul’s great nieces Lacy and Ainsley Marino, Brian, Steph Lenz (Zac) and Nikki; and sister-in-law Debbie Mott and nephews Kevin and Jon; and numerous in-laws and cousins who love him dearly.
Services will be held at a later date at St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church in Bloomington.
