Obituary of Richard Dale Friday

Richard Dale Friday, of Rush City, passed away on Wednesday January 15, 2020 in his home surrounded by family. He had recently celebrated his 80th birthday.

Richard was born on August 21, 1939 to Evan and Doris (Peterson) Friday in Minneapolis. He grew up and graduated high school in Rush City. After high school he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served his country from 1958 to 1961, coming home a veteran of foreign wars (VFW member). Upon returning home, he met Diane Rohlf and was married on March 17, 1962 at First Lutheran Church Rush City. They have five children. He was employed by Western Electronic (now Alcatel Lucent) for 38 years. In retirement, he enjoyed a part time job as a master lawn mower at BulRush Golf Course.

Through the years, Richard (Tilly) enjoyed hunting and fishing with the boys, golfing with friends and family, playing cards, a cold beer, and a good cribbage opponent. He loved any activity that surrounded him with his grandchildren.

He is survived and will missed by his wife Diane, brother Philip (Gerry), sister-in-law Cheryl, and his children Scott Friday, Wendy Erickson, Rick (Jody) Friday, Tom (Jenny) Friday, and Robin (Rick) Schellbach. Richard is also survived by his grandchildren Tomi (Chris), Jeremiah, Samantha (Josh), Jami (Jared), Taylor (Eli), Sydnie, Jacob (Kelly), Taniel (Zach), great grandchildren Karson & Nathan, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Evan and Doris and his brother Robert.

Funeral Services for Richard will be held at St John’s Lutheran Church in Rush City on Friday January 24th at 11am with a visitation at 9am.
