Obituary of Marian M. Ewers
Marian Ewers passed away peacefully, with family by her side, late Friday evening
August 30th, at her son's home near Orange, Texas.
She was born in Richland County, Wisconsin in 1924, the eighth of nine
children to James and Annie (Harlan) Carter. At Richland Center High
School she met the love of her life, Charles Ewers. They married in 1942,
and over the years they had three sons and a daughter. They made their
home in Richland County, later moved to Janesville, WI and finally to Prior Lake, MN.
Anyone who knew Marian knew that she was soft spoken yet witty, was
always ready to listen and encourage, didn't like to inconvenience anyone,
and NEVER wanted to draw attention to herself. She left us just as she
lived her life, trying to make as little fuss as possible. She quietly
slipped away, after most had gone to bed, at the beginning of a long
holiday weekend. We have no doubt there was quite a bit more fuss and
excitement in Heaven as she joined her husband, family and friends.
She was the best role model that one could ever hope to find. To
know her was to love her. She was one of the kindest, sweetest, funniest
ladies to ever walk the earth. Always with a sweet smile and cheery "hello."
She adored each of her children, especially the ones that claimed
to have been "disciplined the most." She had an excellent memory, yet
claimed she always forgot to discipline a child when certain discipline
had been promised. We are fairly certain that she never forgot. Growing up
during the Depression made her very frugal, so be it a toothpaste tube or
a jar of applesauce, even her grandchildren knew what she meant when she
said "Get all the goodie out of it." She absolutely insisted that she
truly enjoyed eating burnt cookies, and always asked for the smallest piece of any
food on the platter. She was also very good at letting her children "take
wing" when they were grown, and while they tried out their wings, she
spent time on her knees praying for their flight. Now she has taken wing,
and oh how she will be missed...until we meet again.
Marian is preceded in death by her spouse Charles Ewers, son Bradley
Ewers, granddaughter Holly Ewers and great-granddaughter Isis Joy, parents
James and Annie Carter, and all but one of her dear siblings and their spouses.
She is survived by two sons Terry (Joy) Ewers, and Dennis Ewers, a daughter
Marianne (Michael) Hagen; her sister Helen Andrews, 9 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, September 14th, at Zoe
Church (14300 W. Burnsville Parkway, Burnsville, MN 55306, phone
952-736-2500). Visitation starts at 1:00 PM, memorial service at 2:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a cause that Marian would
want to champion. Our family is inspired to support a friend, Val Graves,
as she prepares to step on to the mission field.
For donations, checks can be made to Zoe Church, (with"Val Graves" written in the memo line.)
