Obituary of Patricia Duus

Patricia (Pat) Duus of Hastings, Minnesota, formally of Cottage Grove, Minnesota and Grand Rapids, Minnesota, died May 18, 2019.  She was 93.

Pat was born in Proctor, Minnesota on January 22, 1926, to the late Fred and Ann (Johnson) Smith.  Pat was a graduate of Greenway High School in Coleraine, Minnesota and attended nursing school at St. Lukes School of Nursing in Duluth, Minnesota.  On February 5, 1949, she married Herbert Duus.  In the early 1960s they moved to the Twin Cities where she worked at Mounds Park Hospital for several years.  Pat loved to crochet, read and travel.  Herb and Pat spent many years traveling to escape the cold winters.  

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herb, her son, Tommy and her twin sister, Geraldine Young.  She is survived by her children, Cathi (Mark) Schooley, David (Barb) Duus and Kristi (Tim) Osterberg; brother, Manley (Judy) Smith; grandchildren, Heather (Daryck), Melissa, Michelle, Renee (Brian), Jacob (Megan), Chad and Amy; great-grandchildren, Joshua, Kyle, Savannah, Lillian, Maci and Hope.

We were blessed to call her mom, grandma and great-grandma.  We are happy to know that she is reunited with Herb in Heaven.  Memorials preferred to the Macular Degeneration Association or donor’s choice.
