Obituary of Thomas Lawrence Ley

In Loving Memory of Thomas L. Ley

Thomas L. Ley, age 54 of Robbinsdale, Minnesota (formerly of Cassville, WI) went home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 1, 2019 at The Pillars Hospice Home in Oakdale, Minnesota. Tommy peacefully stepped into the realm of heavenly glory as his mother, sister, and dear friend Jenny were by his side. He valiantly faced his fight with cancer for nine months allowing many to partake in the honest reality of his journey.

Tommy was born in Janesville, Wisconsin on June 24, 1964. He was the son of Lawrence and Rita Ley. Surviving are his mother, Rita Ley (Cassville, WI), sister, Amy Ley (Menomonee Falls, WI), and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence N. Ley.

He attended high school at Cassville High School and Holy Name Seminary. He graduated with honors from Minneapolis Community and Technical College with an associate degree in Human Services, and was currently enrolled at Metro State University pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Human Services Administration. Previous work history includes the position of UM/UR intake coordinator at PreferredOne in Golden Valley, Minnesota.

Tommy was an open soul who loved people and was surrounded by people who loved him…a priceless combination. Special thanks to his dear friends Jenny and Kevin who compassionately and unconditionally demonstrated the love of Christ to Tommy. His family and friends are forever grateful.

Services to celebrate Tommy’s life will be held at Parkway United Church of Christ located at 3120 Washburn Avenue N., Minneapolis, MN 55411 on Saturday, February 9th. Visitation will start at 10:00 with a memorial service beginning at 10:30. A luncheon will immediately follow the service. A memorial celebration will be held in Cassville, WI at a later date.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be made to Parkway United Church of Christ where Tommy worshiped and served.
