Obituary of Jeroy C Carlson

Jeroy was born in Wanamingo on August 27, 1923 to John and Clara Carlson. He died on November 20 at Mt. Olviet Careview Home. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Clarence; sister-in-law, Anna; nephews, Jimmy and Wayne; brothers-in-law, James and David Brislance; parents-in-law, Mary and Louis Brislance and many dear friends. He is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, “Ainy” (Lorraine); daughter, Elizabeth; son, Jonathan (Leslie); grandchildren: Alisa (Shawn) Loeblein, Andrea (Riley) Conway, Amy (Andrew) Wharton, Ashley (Matthew) Thomas; six great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Mary and Michelle Brislance; nieces and nephews. Jeroy served in the U.S. Navy as a radioman on an LST in Europe during WWII. Jeroy worked at Augsburg University for 44 years as alumni director and later as senior development officer. He coached and taught school at Hendricks, Belle Plaine and Cannon Falls and pitched “Town Team” baseball at the three towns. He loved working at Augsburg University. Faculty and students were his friends. He had a deep faith and his purpose in living was to help anyone who needed him. Special thanks to Careview Home for the care and kindness shown to Jeroy by the fifth floor staff, the therapists, pastors and Grace Hospice. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 13, 11:00 a.m., with the family visitation at 10:00 at Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church, 5025 Knox Ave. S. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Augsburg University Jeroy and Lorraine Carlson Endowed Scholarship, Luther Seminary or donor’s choice.
