Diane Malander Obituary

Diane Malander, Duluth, passed away peacefully of natural causes on September 27, 2026. She was 90.

Diane was preceded in death by her husband Robert “Bob”, parents Arthur and Alyce Wiedenhoft, siblings Arthur, Jane, Les and grandson Ben. She is survived by her children Susan (Brian), Mark (Loretta), Lynn (Michael), Lori (David), Nancy (Rich), grandchildren Zack, Nick, Sarah, Aaron, Patrick, Peter, Matthew, Sam, Michael, Ashlee, Andrea, Claire, Joe, 14 great grandchildren and many other friends and relatives. A special thanks to Maggie and Kaity Roper, Beehive, St. Luke’s Cardiac Care and Solvay Hospice House. You guys were awesome.

Diane was a long time member of Christ Lutheran Church. She was active in PTA, a Brownie Girl Scout leader, an active blood donor, a long serving election judge and a volunteer at St. Mary’s Hospital gift shop. Diane had the amazing ability to shuttle her 5 children to their many activities, games and practices no matter the weather. She attended all their track, cross country, softball, hockey, broom ball, volleyball, swim meets and dance recitals putting up with freezing ice rinks, stinky swimming pools and blustery conditions on a field or golf course. She was consistently there, cheering on the sidelines.

AND - Her house was spotless.

In lieu of flowers you are encouraged to donate blood to the Red Cross in her honor or make a monetary donation to Christ Lutheran Church.

A celebration of life will be held on Monday, October 12, 2026, at Christ Lutheran Church, 2415 Ensign St., Duluth. Visitation will be at 10:00AM and services will be at 11:00AM.
