Warren Merle Schwecke passed away on August 25, 2026 at the age of 89. He was born on June 20, 1937 in New Ulm, MN to Victor and Hannah (Uetzmann) Schwecke and grew up on a farm near Gibbon, MN. A resident of Trillium Woods in Plymouth, MN, Warren also made Mesquite, NV his home for many years.

Warren earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Chemistry from the University of Minnesota in 1959. After securing an internship during college, he spent his entire career at General Mills where he rose to the level of Vice President of Quality and Regulatory Operations. He retired at the age of 58 after nearly 40 years with the company.

A long-time member of Golden Valley Lutheran Church, Warren was also instrumental in starting two churches in Mesquite, NV, most recently Prince of Peace Lutheran. He served in many leadership positions throughout the years and sang in the choir.

He also enjoyed fishing at his lake home on 5th Crow Wing near Nevis, MN and golfing in Mesquite, NV. Most of all, he loved spending time with friends and family, arranging for family trips to Mesquite, Cancun and a 60th Wedding Anniversary European River Cruise.

Warren was preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Hannah Schwecke, brothers Clifford (Melba) and Norbert (Noreen), and sisters Ardell Carlson (Al), Delores Zuel (Bob), and Norma Schwecke.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Lois, of Plymouth, MN; four children, Tim (Diane) Schwecke of Bradenton, FL, Jacqui Thone (Jeff) of St. Paul, MN, Russ (Connie) Schwecke of Otsego, MN and Kim Johnson (Mike) of Nevis, MN, plus 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that Memorial Contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org or a charity of your choice.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Cremation Society of Minnesota. A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, September 28th at 11:00 am at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church at 5005 Northwest Blvd in Plymouth, MN. Visitation begins at 10:00 am with a lunch to follow the service. The service will also be live-streamed for those who cannot attend in person.
