Patrick Eugene Mylan, age 55, died peacefully with family by his side on August 26, 2026, after a long battle with MSA, a rare and progressive neurodegenerative disorder.

Patrick was born on July 11, 1971, in West Chicago, IL, to Eugene and Sharon Mylan. The family moved to Two Harbors, MN, in 1977. He graduated from Two Harbors High School in 1990 and went on to study at St. Cloud State University in St. Cloud, MN, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, a Bachelor of Science in Cartography, and a Bachelor of Arts in Geography. His long career in public service began when he joined the City of Richfield, MN as a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) coordinator. From there he became the GIS Director and later, the Director of IT and Public Safety, for the City of Inver Grove Heights, MN. He then moved on to become the Director of Public Safety IT Systems for the Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport. He excelled in these roles and truly enjoyed his work. 

From a young age, Patrick was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, hiking, skiing, canoeing and kayaking. He was an avid mountain biker, riding almost daily for 30 years. He was also a talented woodworker, designing and building beautiful custom cabinetry and furniture. He enjoyed playing guitar, cooking, and restoring vintage vehicles and boats, including a 1971 Land Cruiser and a 1973 Boston Whaler fishing boat, which he enjoyed with family and friends on Twin Cities area lakes and the St. Croix River. He especially enjoyed outdoor adventures with his daughter Sydney and his son Wyatt, including camping trips, ski trips, spring breaks, and many canoe trips on the St. Croix River. Patrick was very proud of his children for being kind, smart, creative and for attending college to pursue their dreams.

Patrick is survived by his two children, Sydney and Wyatt, and former spouse, Joanna; mother Sharon Mylan; siblings Laura Mylan (Erick), Lisa Georgousis (Thanasis), Brian Mylan, Kate Estlund (Scott), and Thomas Mylan; nine nieces and nephews; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Paul Mylan.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, September 25 at The Church of St. Albert the Great, 2836 33rd Ave. S., Minneapolis – with Visitation at 10:00 a.m., Mass at 11:00 a.m., and luncheon at noon. In lieu of flowers, Patrick and his family request that donations be made to The Pillars Hospice Home-Beyond Hospice.
