Shirley was preceded in death by her parents Walter and Myrtle Larson and siblings Duane, Kenneth, Ruth, Harold and Merle Larson. She is survived by sisters Ione Rolstad (Roger) and Marlene Hoppel, 14 nieces and nephews, many great and great-great nieces and nephews, and lifelong best friend Ardelle Daly.

Shirley was born in Hallock, MN and grew up in Holt, MN. She graduated from Newfolden, MN High School as valedictorian of her class. After high school, Shirley moved to Minneapolis and attended Minneapolis Business College and began her career at Marsh McLennan Agency, where she was later promoted to become the first female vice-president of the company. Shirley traveled extensively throughout her adult life, usually with friends or family, often returning to her favorite city of London. She enjoyed 30 + years of retirement spending time at the cabin, continuing her travels, participating in her book club, and frequently babysitting her great-nieces and nephews.

Shirley will be remembered for her quick wit, her directness, her great sense of style, her willingness to look silly to entertain her nieces and nephews, her prowess playing Scrabble and solving crossword puzzles, her incredible Thanksgiving dinners, and her generosity.

The family would like to thank the staff at Amira Choice of Bloomington and Hospice of the Midwest for their dedicated care of Shirley.

A service of remembrance will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 26, at the Cremation Society of Minnesota on France Ave in Edina, with a time of gathering from 10:00-11:00, and a luncheon following the service. Arrangements by the Cremation Society of Minnesota. Memorials preferred to The Minneapolis Institute of Arts or Wingspan Life Resources.
