Anne Aspoas was born on June 26, 1948, to James and Phyllis (Smith) Aspoas in Washington, D.C. She graduated from Duluth East High School in 1966 and earned her bachelor’s degree from Lindenwood University in Missouri.

After college, Anne worked as a physical scientist in the Environmental Sciences Division of Midwest Research Institute. After moving to Duluth, she was active in the Duluth Woman’s Club and served as its president. She was a longtime member of Lakeside Presbyterian Church, where she served as a Deacon and Elder and played in the handbell choir.

For many years, Anne operated Aspen Ridge Stables north of Duluth, where she helped teach generations of riders. Her equestrian students competed nationally in dressage. She spent her final year on her farm with the horses she loved.

A memorial service for Anne will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 24, at Lakeside Presbyterian Church, 4430 McCulloch Street, Duluth.

On Saturday, July 25, a celebration of Anne’s life will be held from 3:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Veritas Ridge Farm, formerly Aspen Ridge Stables, 1730 Hegberg Road, Duluth.

In honor of Anne, memorials may be made to Lakeside Presbyterian Church.
