William Henry "Bill" Storrick Obituary

William Henry "Bill" Storrick, age 86, of Coon Rapids, MN, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2026.

Bill was born on August 1, 1939, in Washington, PA. He was a curious and analytical individual from the start, possessing an innate need to figure out exactly how things worked. This passion led him to Carnegie-Mellon University, where he graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering.

A proud veteran, Bill served his country in the United States Army, earning the rank of Captain. His military service took him to Germany and Vietnam. After retiring from the Army he worked for the Naval Air Propulsion Test Center as an aeronautical engineer. Next, Bill brought his engineering talents to 3M, where he dedicated 25 years as a mechanical engineer. Driven by a wanderlust spirit, he thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to travel extensively around the globe with 3M International.

Bill was known by all as kind, quiet, silly, and deeply loving toward his family and friends. He was highly athletic and felt most at home in the outdoors. He loved biking and cross-country skiing, with a major life highlight being skiing the prestigious American Birkebeiner. Bill also thrived on adventure, frequently recalling the pure thrill of jumping out of an airplane. In his later years, he joined the Memory Lane Singers an active group of people with dementia and their supportive partners, putting on two major concerts annually.

Bill Storrick passed away leaving a legacy of quiet kindness and humor. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Katheryn Storrick, and siblings, Roy, John, Jim, Dick, and Mary Jane (Volkenant). He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Judy; daughter, Cindy; son, Scott (Amy); grandchildren, Rob (Jordan) and Libby (Adrian) Peil; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
