Age 67, of Mpls., passed away June 9, 2026.  Preceded in death by parents Gerald and Patricia and brother, Brendan.  After graduating from Washburn High School in 1977, Margaret earned a Bachelor's degree from The College of Continuing and Professional Studies at The University of MN.  After working for a short time as a Paralegal in Philadelphia, Margaret returned to MN where she continued working until diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1989. 

 In 1995, Margaret married the love of her life, Thomas Barbeau.  Together, they shared many adventures as they both navigated living with M.S diagnoses.  Margaret enjoyed traveling, especially to favorite places like New York, San Francisco and Paris.  Music was an important part of Margaret’s life, and she enjoyed singing as Tom played his piano.  Margaret was a loyal and exuberant Vikings fan, she loved to read and talk politics.

In spite of the incredible challenges her M.S. diagnosis presented Margaret, she never lost her keen sense of humor and her ability to think of others.  She cherished her relationships with friends and family; especially her role as Aunt to her many nieces and nephews.  Remaining independent and active were extremely important to Margaret.  She was always out on her motorized scooter, participating in her community and helping others.  She took great pride in her role as a Companion for 25 years at Walker Methodist Nursing Home. 

To the very end, Margaret showed incredible resilience and determination to live life to the fullest. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Survived by husband, Thomas Barbeau; brother Steve; sister Mary (John Pipkin) Brownrigg; sister Monica (Patrick) Miles; sister Katie (Jim Gubernick) Brownrigg; brother Jerry (Carrie Claypatch) Brownrigg; sister Joanne (Thomas Spray) Brownrigg; cousin; Sue Connolly; cousin Mike Connolly; nieces and nephews; many other relatives and friends. 

A memorial will be held on Saturday, July 11, 4-7pm at The Cremation Society, 4343 Nicollett Ave Mpls., Visitation one hour prior to service at 5pm.

Memorial preferred to The National Multiple Scherlosis Society.
