JoAnn Agnes Rolfes-Fynboh Obituary
JoAnn Agnes Rolfes-Fynboh was born into life on July, 20, 1940 and born into eternal life on June, 24, 2026.
JoAnn was born in Belle River, MN to Chris and Hilda Lentz, growing up on the farm with her siblings and graduating from Sauk Centre High School. She married the love of her life, Melvin Henry Rolfes on December 2, 1961 and together they built a life centered on family, friends, and hard work. After Mel’s passing in 1996, she found love again and married James Fynboh in 1998. They spent their years together enjoying retirement on the shores of Mille Lacs Lake, in the sun of Texas, around the card table, and on the golf course in Sauk Centre. Jim passed away in 2019.
She is lovingly remembered by her children Michael Rolfes and wife Susan of Edina, MN, Dr. Mary Jo Rolfes-Lo and her husband Dr. Stanley Lo of Brookfield, WI, Dale Rolfes and his wife Shari of Crystal MN, and Janell Berggren and her husband Jeff Berggren of Afton MN. She took great pride in each of them and the lives they built.
JoAnn’s legacy continues through her grandchildren: Jack Rolfes and wife Claire of Hopkins MN, James Rolfes of Minneapolis, MN, Paul Rolfes of Hopkins MN, Molly Rolfes of Bloomington MN, Dr. Claire Lo of Brookfield WI, Michael Lo of San Francisco, CA, Abbigail Imdieke and husband Kyle of Coon Rapids, MN, Katie Moore and husband Mason of Mounds View MN, Isabelle Rolfes of Minneapolis MN, Jessica Berggren of Afton MN, and John Berggren of Afton MN. She was also blessed with four great grandchildren: Annabelle Imdieke, Eleanor, Violet, and Theodore Moore.
JoAnn is survived by her sister Janice Majerus of Osakis, MN, sisters-in-law Doreen Lentz of Sauk Centre, MN and Lucy Rolfes of Jim Falls, WI and brother-in-law Charles Rolfes of Eden Prairie, MN. She also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Chris and Hilda Lentz, her brother Jerome Lentz, sister Arlene Veeder, sister Mary Lentz who died at birth, and bothers-in-law Walter Rolfes and Father Robert Rolfes.
JoAnn was known for her love of a good card game, where her competitive spirit often came out in the most playful way. She treasured her many friendships and long-standing bonds built over the years. She proudly served as an active member of the American Legion and was a devout, practicing Catholic. Her commitment to her faith and community remained central throughout her life.
She loved to travel, and those who accompanied her will remember her excitement for adventure and discovery. Her recent trips to Florida and Hawaii brought her great joy. She always enjoyed a good mystery trip, embracing the surprise and spontaneity of the experience.
JoAnn will be remembered for the way she lived with warmth, humor, and a deep devotion to God, family and friends. Her presence left an imprint on those around her that will not be forgotten, and her memory will continue to be carried forward in the stories, laughter, and love she created.
