Florence Yvonne "Bonnie" Graham Obituary
Florence Yvonne (Bonnie) Graham (nee Ure), 96 years, passed away at her home in St. Paul on June 9, 2026. She was born in Duluth Minnesota on February 16, 1930 to Kathleen and Spencer Ure. Bonnie was raised in a loving household with her 3 siblings, Janet, Kate and Spencer (Mick). She enjoyed her childhood with many activities including swimming, ice skating, and spending time with friends. She had many fond memories of those years.
She graduated from Duluth Central High School in 1947 and attended U of M Duluth before transferring to the University of Illinois where she graduated with a degree in business in 1951. There she met her future husband, Charles Graham. They married on September 2, 1950 and had three sons.
Bonnie earned a master’s degree in career counseling from the University of Wisconsin, Whitewater. She worked with women in St. Cloud and the Twin Cities to help develop their skills for the workplace. She was always a strong advocate for women’s voices to be heard and respected in our society.
In addition to her work, Bonnie was very active in many civic organizations as well as helping Chuck in his role as college president at St. Cloud University and Hamline University. She was very active raising support for a new library in St. Cloud. This was consistent with her belief in education.
She authored two books: “It Was Quite A Ride: Moving through the Twentieth Century”; and “First Wife: The Invisible Force”.
Bonnie enjoyed traveling and meeting new people. She and Chuck traveled to many places around the world. Bonnie loved nature, especially the north woods of Wisconsin, Duluth, and the North Shore of Lake Superior. She loved to spend time with her family, especially at the cabin on Deer Lake, WI.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband and sisters. She is survived by her brother Mick Ure (Doris); sons John (Martha Morris), James (Jennifer) and David (Therese Pautz); 10 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held on August 27, 2026 with a visitation at 10:00 am and service at 11:00 at Minnehaha United Methodist Church, 3701 East 50th St. Minneapolis, MN 55417.
