Linda Lee Roetman (LaCosse)

November 7, 1945 – June 14, 2026

Zimmerman – Linda Lee Roetman passed away on June 14, 2026, at the age of 80. She spent her final months in memory care where she was lovingly cared for by a host of very patient nurses and aides. She gave them all a run for their money.

Linda was born in Stillwater on November 7, 1945, the oldest of seven children born to Jannis and Frank LaCosse. She graduated from Stillwater High School.

She met and married her beloved husband, Alvin, in 1966. For 60 years they were inseparable. Together they built a home, raised two daughters, retired from Honeywell, traveled widely, and danced up a storm. For many years they drove out to Taos, New Mexico, for an annual barn dance with live country music.

Linda had a love of crafting and learning new things. Over the years she took up the piano, learned sign language, and began painting watercolors. She crocheted, sewed, and became a highly skilled quilter—when she could stop chitty chatting and laughing with her friends long enough to work on her projects. It’s impossible to know how many infants received one of her beautiful baby quilts.

Most of her friends and family also know Linda for her beautiful handwriting. Any birthday, anniversary, holiday, or Tuesday was a good enough reason to send someone a card or letter. A hoarder of notecards, stationery, and pens, she had many pen pals during her lifetime, and she enjoyed sending long letters and gifts to service members. She rarely missed an opportunity to make someone feel remembered, celebrated, or loved.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents Jannis (Levi) and Frank LaCosse, and her brother Jon (Nook). She is survived by husband, Al; two daughters, Kari and Sarah; her grandson, Micah; five siblings: Boyd (Mary), Jean, Tom (Kathie), Lori, and Cindy (Mike); and many nieces and nephews.

Alzheimer’s is a cruel disease, and although Linda became someone new and unexpected in many ways, her strong spirit never wavered, even at the very end.

A service will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at St. John Lutheran Church, 13045 Fremont Avenue, Zimmerman, MN 55398. Visitation begins at 10:00 a.m., followed by the funeral at 11:00 a.m.
