My name is Diane McKee Schmidt Hofmann known as McKee as a young child and high schooler back in the day. I was Joyce’s daughter Shelley’s best friend since Kindergarden. I have thought of Joyce often in the last few years (really) because she always welcomed me no matter what, no questions asked. Sometimes my life wasn’t so easy, sometimes was, my stepfather was an alcoholic. Joyce let me live with her when I needed somewhere to go. She never asked personal questions or how long I was staying. I was treated like part of the family. I have considered calling her and telling her but didn’t know if she would understand, I am so sorry I waited. Maybe she still knows how much she meant in my life. There is no doubt her family will feel the loss, my condolences heartfelt. I am 76, Shelley you are 75, still younger for now. I am sorry we have lost touch, I will try and remedy that before it is again too late. I wanted you to know she is in my heart. Rest in peace dear Joyce as you allowed me to do during my younger life.
