Florence Elyse Skinner Obituary
Florence Elyse Skinner, cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus, her savior on May 28, 2026, at The Rosemount Senior Living Facility, in the presence of her family. Elyse was born on November 17, 1934, in Modesto, California, to Robert and Florence Martin, who preceded her in death along with her brother Bob Martin and her devoted husband of 65 years, Marvin Skinner.
A woman of deep faith and kindness, Elyse's life was a testament to her dedication to family, friends, and community. She graduated from Modesto High School in 1952, and attended Modesto Junior College. Her journey led her to a fulfilling career as the secretary at St. John's Lutheran Church in Rosemount. She dedicated her time and talents to serving her faith community with love and enthusiasm.
Elyse was a vibrant member of both St. John's Lutheran Church and The WELL Church, where she was known for her warm smile and welcoming spirit. Her faith in Jesus Christ was the cornerstone of her life, and she shared this love and hope with everyone she met, touching countless lives with her genuine compassion and unwavering belief.
Elyse's life was rich with love and laughter, and is survived by her brother Phillip Martin, and her children Michelle Neuer, Tamara McMenomy (Mike), and Jeff Skinner (Tami). Her legacy continues through her eight grandchildren, Adam McMenomy (Cassie), Erin McMenomy, Shawn McMenomy (Paula), Gabriel Smith (Ashley), Hannah Fiore (Chris), Tyler Neuer, Graham Skinner (Arianna), and Evan Skinner, and twelve great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her immeasurable joy and pride.
Elyse found joy in playing cards, spending time at the family cabin, singing, square dancing, snowmobiling, and traveling. She was always surrounded by friends, quick to make new ones and cherishing the old. Her family and friends were the heart of her world, and she celebrated every moment with them fully.
A service to celebrate and honor Elyse's life will be held on June 19, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at The WELL Church, located at 14770 Canada Avenue W. in Rosemount, MN. Visitation will occur one hour before the service. The family extends their deepest gratitude to the staff at The Rosemount and to Minnesota Hospice who cared for her during her final days.
Elyse's family hopes to reflect the legacy of love, faith, and kindness she leaves behind. Her spirit will be a guiding light for those who were fortunate enough to know her. Elyse's life was a melody of love, and her song will continue in the hearts of all who loved her.
