Stephanie Lynn Berguson Obituary
On May 29, 2026 our beloved Stephanie entered into Heaven to finally meet her Savior Jesus Christ face-to-face. It was the longing of her heart throughout her life to meet the One who made it all and loved her. Alzheimer’s disease took her life but not her inner joy, peace and love.
Steph’s life was filled with many joys and laughter surrounded by family and friends that adored her. Steph was born in Saint Paul, Minnesota on January 28th,1955 to Ed and Irene Worlie. Steph and Bill Berguson were married in 1976 in Randall, Minnesota and enjoyed many years starting from nothing together in Saint Paul and building a life in Duluth marked by commitment to Jesus Christ, each other, their children, friends and helping others when possible. Her hospitality was legendary hosting many dinners and showing her love for others in her decorating and cooking. Her apple pie even made a grown man cry remarking “I haven’t had pie this good since my Mom died”. She considered that the ultimate compliment. At her urging, Bill and Steph opened their house over the years to many needing a place to stay. Her beautiful quilts hang on the wall reminding us of her creativity and sense of beauty. She will be fondly remembered singing her lungs out on many worship teams at church with her husband at her side. Steph’s passing leaves a hole in our lives but memories of such love, kindness and generosity remain to comfort us at this time of sadness.
Steph worked as an RN at the Red Cross Blood Bank, Saint Mary’s Hospital and, at the end of her career, the Saint Luke’s Mariner Clinic in Superior. Her smile greeted many patients as they arrived.
She leaves behind her husband, Bill, daughter Christine Pust (husband Aaron, grandchildren Hayden, Hudson, Adley), son Seth Berguson (wife Marissa) and daughter Sarah Cody (Husband Dallas, grandchildren Lydia and Renee) and siblings Darlene Alleva (Tom), Cherry Augst, Steve Worlie (Lynn), Tamara Felix (Tim) and Robin Gaffke (Rick). She is preceded in death by her parents Edward and Irene Worlie and brother-in-Law George Augst. Such a remarkable woman will be greatly missed by all of us and we look forward to that glorious day when we will see her again.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 on the morning of Friday, June 12 at the Hermantown Community Church. A lunch will be served at the church following the service. The family is appreciative of the care and compassion provided by the Hospice Team at Essentia. We ask that anyone wishing to remember Steph do so by telling family members or friends that you love them or hugging them a little tighter. We all should aspire to leave such a legacy of love and kindness.
