Marilyn Maud Haaker Obituary

Marilyn Maud (Hennen) Haaker, 91 passed away on May 27, 2026 at North Shore Estates in Duluth, MN with her family at her side. She was born May 14, 1935 in Norman Township, Willow River, MN. She graduated from Willow River High School. Following high school, she attended UMD and received a degree as a Medical Lab Tech, as well as nursing and accounting degrees.


Marilyn was employed with M. Munson M.D. in the Moose Lake, Barnum area. She worked in the lab at Duluth Clinic for 10 years, as well as Gateway Foods and Flemming Foods for 20 plus years in corporate accounting.


Marilyn was active in the Moose Lake/Barnum Methodist and Lutheran Church’s Youth for Christ and Christian education programs. She was a Member of Elim Lutheran Church in Duluth and also part of their Sarah Circle. She loved to serve the church as a Sunday School teacher, a lay minister, and a Trivent congregational coordinator. She was also a board member for the ELCA Lake Superior Conference and worked on several committees with Lutheran Social Services. At her last class reunion, she was voted best volunteer and fundraiser of the class. Marilyn was an accomplished and published poet. Most of all Marilyn loved all her family, her church family and serving her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! She truly cared for the wellbeing of all she had contact with and loved to share the message of salvation!


Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents Abbie and William Hennen, sisters Dorothy and Verna, brother Harvey, and stepson David.


She is survived by her husband Raymond, sister Karen, sister-in-law Jan, many nieces, nephews and cousins.


There will be a funeral service on Tuesday, June 9, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation one hour prior at Elim Lutheran Church, 6101 Cody Street, Duluth.
