Ronald Charles Glendening Obituary

Ronald Charles Glendening, age 83, of Saint Peter, Minnesota, went to his eternal home in heaven on Monday, May 18, 2026, following a heroic battle with Alzheimer’s.  Ron was born on July 13, 1942, in Youngstown, Ohio, to Tom and Thelma Glendening. He grew up in Hartville, Ohio and graduated from Lake High School in Uniontown, Ohio, in 1960. He went on to attend college at Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio.

Ron married his high school sweetheart, Nancy McFadden, on August 4, 1962, in Hartville, Ohio. After graduating from BGSU in 1964 Ron and Nancy lived and raised their family in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. For over 30 years Ron worked at the Akron Beacon Journal in the Data Processing Dept; ending his career as the Data Processing Manager. He loved technology and he loved cars.  Ron could tell you the year an old car was made just by looking at it and often as a child sat with his brother, Brice, watching the cars go by and seeing who could name the year they were made first.

Ron and Nancy spent a lot of their free time boating on Lake Erie on their sailboat – “Second Home”. In the mid-2000s when they both had retired, they sold their home and decided to RV full time. They traveled the country together for 16+ years, spending their winters in Arizona and their summers in Cedarville, Michigan where they managed an RV park near the Les Cheneaux Islands. Ron always had a smile on his face and would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren and playing with his great grandchildren (especially playing with matchbox cars).   He also enjoyed going to Bible Study, going out for coffee and spending time with his friends.

Ron is preceded in death by his wife, Nancy (McFadden) Glendening, his parents, Thomas and Thelma (Markley) Glendening and his brother Brice Glendening.

He is survived by his daughters: Ginny (Jeff) Gendelman and BethAnn (Greg) Emley, grandchildren: Jessica (Andy) Haagenson, Benjamin Emley, Jacob (Ellie) Emley, Megan Gendelman, and Sara Gendelman, and great grandchildren: Foster, Ira, Rita, and Enid Haagenson.
