Patricia Eileen Hunter Obituary

Patricia Eileen Hunter passed away on May 26, 2026 at the age of 70. She was a resident of Redwood Falls.

Patricia was born on September 24, 1955, in Minneapolis to June Palmer (Hand) and Robert Tunnell. She grew up as one of four sisters and one brother. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in south Minneapolis. In her younger years, she enjoyed playing recreational softball, was on a couple of bowling leagues and sang karaoke at the VFW. She married in 1976 and started a family.

She dedicated much of her life to hard work and caring for others. For more than 20 years, she worked at Biomedical Dynamics, a medical device manufacturing facility, while also working nights and weekends at Sanrio, famous for Hello Kitty. She truly loved her time there and especially adored the characters, even getting a tattoo of her favorite, Pekkle. After the manufacturing facility closed, Pat continued her strong work ethic through housekeeping at Jackpot Junction, caregiving at REM, and later as the proud evening cleaner at McDonald's. She never missed a day of work and took pride in every job she held.

After a divorce, Pat raised three daughters as a single mother and worked tirelessly to provide for them. She was never much for strict rules or punishment- instead, she created a home filled with humor, openness, and conversation. She was the kind of mom other kids loved being around because she made everyone feel welcome.  Many memories were made with Pat sitting cross-legged in the living room with a glass of Pepsi nearby. Once she discovered Facebook, she quickly became friends with not only her daughters’ friends, but even their friends as well.

Being a grandmother brought Pat tremendous joy. She helped raise all five of her grandchildren and lived with each of them at some point during their childhoods. Grandma Pat was deeply loved and treasured by all of them.

Pat found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. She loved giving gifts and was always searching for little treasures she thought others would enjoy. If someone mentioned liking something, Pat made sure to remember it and often gifted versions of it again and again. She shopped year-round so she would always have something special ready when visiting loved ones. Cards for birthdays and holidays were never forgotten. Though she may not have had much, she gave generously and wholeheartedly.

Pat also had a style entirely her own. Her outfits were always carefully coordinated from earrings to socks, and in later years she became even more adventurous in her fashion choices. A church friend once told her, “I never miss church because I always want to see what Patricia is wearing.”

After being set up on a blind date Pat met her husband Bill, and they were inseparable ever since. They married in 2019 and she found true and lasting love. Through Bill, she found faith in the Lord and was baptized as a Christian. Together they became active in their church community, enjoyed exploring new places, and shared a joyful companionship built on simple adventures and love. They loved to go to garage sales, the races, and out to eat. Their beloved dog Chewy was a passenger for it all.

Patricia was preceded in death by her parents June and Robert; sisters Katherine and Debra.

She is survived by her loving husband, William Hunter; daughters Nicole Johnson (Brent), Rebecca Johnson, and Andria Johnson; sister Diane Waterston (Kevin), brother Paul Tunell (Jen); grandchildren Lucas (Madison), Keenan (Shyanne), Connelly, Leightyn, and Maveryck; great-grandchildren Sophia and Willow with another great-grandchild, Kora, lovingly awaited; along with several nieces, nephews, and many loved ones.
