Harri Persaud “David” Kumal passed away on May 25, 2026 at the Apple Valley Village Health Care Center at the age of 90. He was a resident of Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Born on March 4, 1936 in Letter Kenny Village, Corentyne, Guyana, he was the loving son of Kumal Samaroo Jute (Joe) and Bhagmatee Jugeshwar (Mockwa).

History — Harri began his life as a farmer of rice and sugarcane in Guyana before moving to the United States in 1987. He worked at Douglas Corporation – a Minnesota-based manufacturer known for designing and producing OEM decorative brand emblems, nameplates, and electronic components like membrane switches – for over 20 years before his retirement. A hardworking and devoted family man, he was known for being thrifty with himself but endlessly generous with his beloved wife — he would buy her anything her heart desired. Above all, Harri instilled in his children that education was a priority and a pathway to success. They carried that lesson into their own homes, and their children have carried it into theirs — a legacy he set in motion that continues with every generation.

Special Interests — Harri had a deep love for gardening, walking, and riding his bike. He enjoyed listening to music and singing, and though he was content to watch rather than join in, he loved seeing his family dance. Above all, he treasured spending time with his family. He also took great pride in his car — keeping it spotless was a ritual he passed on to his children.

Great-grandchildren: Jaxson Harripersaud, Theo Kumar, Harrison Biebighauser, Hailey Biebighauser, Layla Benson, Lennox Lovett and Hudson Biebighauser

Hawan services will be held on Monday, June 1, 2026 beginning at 10:00 a.m. This will be followed by visitation and the cremation immediately after at the Cremation Society of Minnesota, 4343 Nicollet Avenue South, Minneapolis, MN 55409.
