Dorothy L. DeWitt Obituary

Dorothy “Dotty” L. DeWitt, formerly of Mankato and Isle, died peacefully on Friday, May 8, 2026, at the age of 86.


Dotty was born on January 29, 1940, in Isle, Minnesota to Marion DeWitt and Ruby Peterson. She was the fourth of five children. She attended school in Isle and later worked as a shipping clerk for a publishing company. She was an inspiration to all who knew her and to all whose lives she touched.


Dotty was united in marriage to Richard “Dick” McNea on June 11, 1960, and together they welcomed two daughters, Melanie and Melissa. The family later settled in Mankato.


Dotty enjoyed singing, dancing, sharing laughter and love with friends and family. She helped people and plants grow wherever she shined her light. She cherished visits with Melanie and her grandchildren, and loved thrift store shopping and holding hands with Melissa. She loved her daughters deeply.


Dotty was preceded in death by her husbands, Dick and Wayne; brother Norman; sisters Carole and Delph; and brothers-in-law John, Marion and Doug.


Dotty is survived by her daughters Melanie (Jason) Stoen and Melissa (Tim) Tollefson; stepdaughter Kari Hammer; sister Gloria; sister-in-law Thelma; many grandchildren, extended family members, dear friends, and her beloved granddog, Poco.


A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, June 14, from 2:00–5:00 p.m., with a tribute ceremony beginning at 3:00 p.m., at McQuoid’s Inn, Isle, MN. Enjoy light food, refreshments, and fellowship.
