Georgia Ann (Brey) Tjepkes, age 80, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 15, 2026, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis. She was a warrior!
Georgia was born on December 17, 1945, to her parents, Norbert and Phyllis. She lived a life centered around family, love, kindness, and creating lasting memories with those she cared for most. Her warm heart, gentle spirit, and unwavering devotion to her family will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Georgia spent 3–4 days a week at the YMCA, where she made many cherished swim friends who became a special part of her life. She was known for her friendly smile, caring heart, and the joy she found in spending time with others.
Georgia worked for Merry Maids for many years, taking pride in her strong work ethic and dedication. Above all else, Georgia was a homemaker who created a warm and loving home for her family. She especially loved gardening and found peace and happiness outdoors among her flowers and plants.
Georgia also had a deep love for water, beaches, and sunshine. Whether sitting near the water, enjoying a sunny day, or spending time outdoors, those moments brought her great happiness and comfort.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Norbert and Phyllis; her husband, Doug Tjepkes her sister, Sandy Hofmann; and brothers-in-law, Mike Hofmann and Howie Koivu.
She will be deeply missed by her children: William Simco, Johnny (Sandra) Simco, and Derrick Tjepkes; grandchildren: Patrick (Jenny), Amanda (Jeff), Stephanie, Jenna, Josh, and Delaney (Wyatt); as well as many beautiful great-grandchildren. Also her beloved sister Randi Koivu, as well as many nieces, nephews, family and friends
Per Georgia’s wishes, there will be no public services, but a private family burial will be held on July 20th, where she will be laid to rest beside her late husband, Doug Tjepkes, at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, united together once again.
Georgia’s memory will live on through the love she gave so freely, the family she cherished deeply, and the many lives she touched along the way.
“Those we love don’t go away; they walk beside us every day."
