Deborah Jane Rykken of Lino Lakes, MN passed away on May 12, 2026 at home surrounded by her family. She was 74 years old. Deb was born on December 27, 1951 in Worthington, MN to David and Mary Jane Boldt (née Funk).

She grew up on the family farm a few miles south of Rushmore, MN and was active in walking the beans, feeding the pigs and collecting eggs. She graduated from Adrian High School in 1969 in a class of 69 students, got her Bachelor’s degree from Southwest Minnesota State University in 1973, and her Master’s degree from the College of St. Scholastica in 1997 in teaching mathematics. She taught and coached other teachers for 52 years at Southwest State, St. James, Centennial and Highview. She also helped lead workshops at the Science Museum of Minnesota, and worked with student teachers through Hamline University until last fall.

She was a long-time member of Incarnation Lutheran Church in Shoreview, where she was involved in music, small group ministry and the Feed My Starving Children MobilePack. She had a great talent for organ and piano, starting to accompany church services at age 11.

She is preceded in death by her mother and father. She is survived by her husband, Grant, her daughter, Nicole (Norman) Lindsay, her bonus daughter, Tovah (Matt) Marek, her bonus son, Christian (Emily) Rykken, her grandchildren Owen, Greta, Ellie and Dane, her brother, Charlie (Jeannie) Boldt, her father- and mother-in-law, David and Jan Rykken, her sisters-in-law, Julie (George) Coyle and Lisa (Brent) Rykken Kastler, and nieces and nephew, Jenny (Jim) Hurley, Haley (Myles) Steinhauser, Riley (Alex) Bonn and Jack (Anna) Coyle.

Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, June 11, 2026 at Incarnation Lutheran Church in Shoreview. Visitation will be held at 10:00am and luncheon will follow the service. The family has asked that memorial contributions be made to Incarnation’s Feed My Starving Children MobilePack at their website or through Incarnation’s Giving office.
