Stephen John Jacobsen Obituary
Stephen John Jacobsen passed away on May 11, 2026 at 2:00 am, peacefully in his sleep, at his home, he was 80 years of age.
Steve was a resident of Inver Grove Heights. Steve was born on October 22, 1945 in Minneapolis Minnesota to Alice and Jean (Jake) Jacobsen. Steve graduated from Willmar High School and enlisted in the U.S. Navy August 27, 1964 where he served in Vietnam on the USS Sanctuary and USS Allagash as a Machinist Mate. Steve lived in South Africa after getting out of the Navy before returning to Minnesota. He served as a mechanic and engineer for over 40 years working for Sperry UNIVAC, Unisys and several other large companies. In addition to his civilian career, Steve Joined the Minnesota Air National Guard in the 1980s and served in the 133 Civil Engineering Squadron where he retired a Master Sergeant.
Steve was passionate about art earning a degree from the University of Minnesota and spending a lifetime pursuing his passion by painting, drawing sculpting and carving countless pieces of art. He was passionate about nature and found peace in its beauty and tranquility. He once said his favorite memories were of the sunsets over Lake Superior. He Loved his time at the Apple Valley and Rosemount Senior Centers Shooting Pool, Wood Carving, and Playing Cribbage. Steve also Loved watching his grandkids sports and just about any sport on TV.
He is preceded in death by his parents Jean Clayton Jacobsen and Alice Hilma Jacobsen (Symington) and brother David Vernon LeVine.
He is survived by his Sons Mathew Jacobsen (Maureen Zook) Rosemount, MN and Luke Jacobsen (Mackenzie Jacobsen) Inver Grove Heights, MN, Brother Bob, Sisters Sue and Mary Jean. Grandchildren Brenna, Mercy, Liam, Tyson, Johanna, Eleanor, Crosby and Axel.
An open house to celebrate Steve's life will be held June 20th from 11:00 am - 2:00 pm at his home at 10644 Alison Way, Inver Grove Heights, MN 55077. Please stop by as you're able to share food, memories, and view Steve's collection of artwork.
There will be a brief interment ceremony at Fort Snelling National Cemetery on June 30th 2026 at 10:00am.
