Dalton Shaun Stang Obituary
Dalton Shaun Stang, age 30, tragically passed in a motor vehicle accident on May 15, 2026. We are deeply saddened by the loss of someone who was so deeply loved by his family, friends, coworkers, and everyone fortunate enough to know him. Though his time here was far too short, Dalton filled his years with adventure, laughter, hard work, and memories that will forever live on in the hearts of those he touched.
Dalton was born on July 26, 1995, in Paynesville, Minnesota. From a young age, he found joy in the outdoors and lived life with a deep appreciation for adventure. His childhood was filled with camping trips, hockey games, baseball, motocross racing, hunting, fishing, and countless memories spent with family and friends. He graduated from Paynesville High School in 2013 before attending Wadena State and Community Technical College to pursue a degree as an electrical lineman.
Dalton dedicated his career to the utility industry and proudly worked at TelCom Construction as an Aerial Supervisor for over 11 years. He was known for his strong work ethic, leadership, and willingness to help wherever needed. Beyond his profession, Dalton’s entrepreneurial spirit and passion for the outdoors led him to guide hunting and fishing excursions, sharing his love of the land and water with others. He also owned and operated Stang Livestock Beef Sales, another reflection of the hardworking and driven man he was.
Dalton had a deep love for horses, roping, hunting pheasants, geese, ducks, and deer, and spending early mornings and late nights in the boat fishing. The outdoors was not just a hobby to him — it was where he felt most at peace and most himself.
Those who knew Dalton will remember his infectious laugh, quick wit, endless jokes, and the genuine kindness he showed to others. He was the type of person who would show up whenever someone needed a hand without hesitation. His personality, character, and the way he made others feel will never be forgotten.
Dalton was preceded in death by his grandparents, Elmer and Maryann Arnzen, and Bernard Stang.
He is survived by his parents, Steve Stang and Brenda (Chad) Heitschmidt; grandmother Ramona Stang; siblings, Brittany (Colin) Buschette, Tifani (Dustin) Schmaltz, and Shaun (Tarah) Stang; and his beloved nieces and nephews, Braxton, Raegan, Jayde, Krew, Reed, Marliss, and Izabella.
He also leaves behind his two loyal furry best friends, Hawk and Outlaw.
As we say our final farewell to Dalton, we invite family and friends to join us in celebrating his life on Sunday May 24th from 3 to 7pm. Pastor Kevin Wilson will there at 3:30 to officiate a blessing.
Earlier this year, Dalton purchased his first home in Zimmerman, Minnesota, where he had hoped to host his very first gathering with family and friends. It feels only fitting to honor his life, accomplishments, and the memories he created by coming together in the way he would have wanted most — surrounded by the people he loved at 14941 283rd Lane NW Zimmerman, MN 55398
