Candy Lola Klesk Obituary

Candy Lola Klesk (Skoien), age 73, of Minneapolis, Minnesota, passed away peacefully at home on May 12, 2026, surrounded by her loved ones.

Born on September 30, 1952 in Moorehead, to Casper and Bernice Skoien, Candy lived a life defined by kindness, humor, creativity, fierce loyalty, and above all, devotion to family.

Candy dedicated her life to caring for others. She studied teaching at the University of Minnesota before pursuing nursing at Anoka-Ramsey Community College, where she became a Registered Nurse. Throughout her distinguished career as an RN, RNAC (Registered Nurse Assessment Coordinator), and later as Director of Resident Assessments in long-term care, she was admired as a compassionate, hardworking leader with immense knowledge and a signature touch of sass. Even in retirement, Candy remained a natural caregiver, always opening her home and heart to anyone in need—even strangers. Her presence brought comfort, warmth, and reassurance to all who knew her.

Candy was a tremendous artist - whether she was painting furniture, wallpapering any flat surface she could find or adding some creative flourishes to her DIY home renovations, she lived her life full of color, wonder and laughter.

She deeply cherished family gatherings, especially Christmas, where her love of decorating, gift-giving, and cherished traditions—always including ham and Polish soup—created lasting memories.

Time spent with her seven beloved grandchildren—Molly, Sophia, Annabell, Casper, Ethan, Sullivan, and Gwendolyn—was always cherished.

Candy is survived by husband of 50 years, Gerald “Jerry”; daughters Theresa (Cliff), Laura (Dave), Kimberly (Randy), and Allison; former sons-in-law Erick (Jackie) and Trent (Laura); sisters Penny (Jay), Cathy (Mike), and Cindy; along with many treasured relatives and dear friends who will forever remember her selflessness, humor, creativity, and unwavering love.

In accordance with her wishes, no formal services will be held. Her family will honor her life privately.
