Ardis Sophie Frey, 93, of Apple Valley, Minnesota, passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 8, 2026, in Apple Valley.

Born December 10, 1932, in McHenry County on the family farm near Anamoose, North Dakota, Ardis was the daughter of walter and Evelyn (Stolt). She attended school through the eighth grade before leaving school to help on the family farm. Ardis met Hilbert Frey during threshing time; they dated for three years and were married on October 14, 1950. Soon after, they moved to Minneapolis, where they raised four children: Lester, Diane, Steven, and Geraldine.

Ardis was preceded in death by her son Steven ("Steve"), her husband Hilbert, her parents Walter and Evelyn Stolt, and her brothers Wilmer, Melvin, James, and Walter Jr.

She is survived by her sisters Delores (Rutten) and Betty (Ahlgren); her son Lester (wife Carole); her daughter Diane Jaman (husband Jairam); and her daughter Geraldine Degenstein; as well as six grandchildren– Tina, Jeremy, Terry, Joseph, Tara, and Starr– and six great-grandchildren– Ava, Mya, Eli, Lydia, Liam, and Jaxson.

A memorial service will held May 20, 2026 at 1 PM, with visitation an hour prior at Cremation Society of Minnesota - Edina, 7110 France Ave S, Edina, MN 55435.
