Tim Scheer Obituary

Timothy Alan Scheer (Tim), 74, of Lakeville, Minnesota passed away at home with family by his side on March 29, 2026, after a long health battle that he endured with quiet strength and perseverance.

Tim was born February 1, 1952, in Osage, Iowa, to Gerald and Mary Scheer. He spent many years getting into mischief with his six siblings who he loved dearly. He enjoyed telling stories about his upbringing to anyone who would hear them.

In 1974, he married his devoted sweetheart, Judy Schlick and they began a life for themselves first in Nora Springs, Iowa and then in Lakeville, Minnesota. From their union, they had three daughters to which he found great pride in. Carpentry was his life’s work, and he was in that industry as a member of Carpenters Local 322 until his early retirement. It was a part of his life that he was very proud of. He could truly build or fix anything.

Tim loved two things most of all- his family first, and then his many hobbies. He was a man of many hobbies that kept him busy and enjoying life. He very much liked hunting, particularly bow hunting, playing his guitars and singing, riding motorcycles (and eventually his e-bike the last couple of years), gardening, and especially fishing. He loved being out on the lakes in his boat fishing. It was truly a lifelong passion for him that even led him to carve his own fishing lures out of wood and paint them, which was a creative and fun hobby he discovered during COVID-19 lockdown. His family imagines he is up in heaven right now on the most beautiful lake, in the most beautiful fishing boat he always wanted, reeling in one huge walleye after another.

More importantly to him and above his hobbies, Tim was most enthusiastic about his family. He loved them profoundly and was so proud of them all, and they knew it because he was always there for them, ready to step in and fix anything they may need help with, protect them, and teach life lessons that they needed to know. He loved to spend time with his family, celebrating birthdays, holidays, and attending their activities.

To know Tim was to of been taught something by him at every opportunity he could find. He was the voice of reason to many and to those he loved most, he taught them everything they know of value today- how to be levelheaded, work hard, always do your best, and most importantly, treasure your family and the moments you have with them. Tim’s wisdom, laughter, humor, grit, and his dependability will be dearly missed and the loss deeply felt forever.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Judy Scheer and his daughters Kelly (Mike) Rierson, Kari Benolkin, Kristin (Matthew) Beaupre, his grandchildren Taylor Rierson, Brandon Rierson, Leah Rierson, Dawn Rierson, Dylan Lach, Calvin Benolkin, Kennedy Benolkin, and great-granddaughter, Lenley Lach. He is also survived by his siblings, Karen (Steve)

McCormick, Tom (Carol) Scheer, Jane (Nick) Fox, Pat Scheer, Sue (Paul) Shepperdson, Mike Scheer, sisters-in-law Jo Weinberger and Diane Schlick, brother-in-law Jerry (Sharon) Schlick, and many cousins, nephews, and nieces.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Mary Scheer, nephews, Jordan Fox and Aaron Weinberger, and two brothers-in-law, John Schlick and Ken Weinberger.
