Margaret Loretta Preiss (LaValley) went to her Lord on May 2, 2026, at the age of 95 after a short illness. Her life was faith-driven and well-lived. Armed with her ever-present rosary and prayer list, she was well prepared for her final journey.

“Muggs,” as she was affectionately known to family and friends, was the matriarch of the LaValley clan, and beloved by all who knew her. She was born to Loretta and Leo LaValley on August 1, 1930 in Albert Lea, MN. “Faith, Family, and Friends” was the guiding force of her life. Muggs loved her time up north and the years she and Gene lived in lake country hosting a parade of family and friends. A devoted wife and mother, Muggs absolutely loved spending time with family, where she was the center of attention, with grandchildren and greats clamoring to be with her.

Her petite size housed an oversized personality that charmed all she met. Her Irish sense of humor was legendary. She had the ability to create instant friendships, and everyone was drawn to her. She left her handprints on our hearts, and we will miss this gentle sweet soul.

She is survived by her children Patty Moriarity (Mike), Tim Preiss (Pam), Ann Gray (John), Tom Preiss (Pam), Joan Poss (Scott), 12 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She is reunited with her beloved husband Eugene (Papa), her parents, and three sisters in the loving arms of God.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 1:00 PM on May 22, 2026, at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church located at 155 County Road 24, Wayzata, MN. Visitation one hour before mass. Interment immediately following at Holy Name Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Muggs requested: “give money to the poor.”
