Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather

Age 97, died peacefully on April 28, 2026. Preceded in death by wife Meredith J. Holland, parents, John and Olga Holland, and seven siblings. Survived by children Steven (Polly Slifer); Jeffrey (Mary); Linda Melchert (Kevin); Jody Wessels (Brent). Grandchildren Ivy Draughon (Ryan), Chad Melchert, Jordin Fox (Joe), Jessica Aarhus, Shawn Aarhus. Great grandchildren Taylor, Jack, Jackson, Jace. He was a man of strong but quiet faith. Second to his love for his family was his love of golf. Wally’s introduction to the game was at age 16 when he started caddying for his brother-in-law. His love of the game continued until last year when at age 96 he stopped playing the fairways. He continued his love of golf by winning the putting contest last summer at Marvella. During his career at 3M Wally traveled the world working in the International Division. Private family interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
