Scott Huestis, 72, of Hastings, MN, passed away peacefully on April 22nd, surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.

Born on August 27, 1953 in St. Paul, Scott was a great businessman and a passionate artist. As the co-owner and CEO of DS&B Realty, he worked diligently and successfully in Commercial Real Estate property management, along with his sister Susan Carter, CFO.

Yet, those who knew him best knew his true solace was found in music. He played countless instruments, but his 3 primary were trumpet, flute, and keyboards. As a gifted musician , Scott performed regularly with many bands throughout his lifetime. His most longstanding and beloved band was known as “The Skunks”, for over 17 years. The Skunks left a huge impact on so many. As he got older he turned his musical focus to Jazz. Music was a gift that came naturally to him. He believed that business and music required the same dedication: "Be honest, listen closely, play with passion, and always stay in harmony". 

Scott’s interests extended to spending time with family and friends, love of nature, gardening, woodworking, fishing, digital archiving, and his animals.

He is survived by his wife of over 30 years, Vicki Huestis; his children, Ryan Huestis, Liz Huestis(Rob); and sister Susan Carter(Dennis); and many nieces and nephews and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents William and Dorothy Huestis; his sister Barbara Jean Huestis; and his brother David Huestis.

The world will be a little less bright without Scott, but his legacy will live on through his children and the amazing impact his music had on all of us. He will be truly missed, and always remembered!

A celebration of his life will be held at Cremation Society of Minnesota at 7110 France Ave. S. Edina, MN. Services will start at 2PM, with a visitation one hour prior. Reception to follow.
