Warren Anthony Kocurek Sr., 86, of LaPorte, MN died on Thursday, April 23, 2026, in his home with his granddaughter at his side.

Warren A. Kocurek was born on September 7, 1939, in Akeley, MN, the son of Hyacinth (Gitchel) and Woodrow Kocurek.

He was united in marriage to his classmate and friend, Hazel Haring, on February 20, 1959, in Fall River, MA. They lived there for the term of Warren’s naval service. Over the years, the couple lived in Eagen, Hastings, Detroit Lakes, and Morris, MN, before retiring to the LaPorte area. After the death of his beloved wife in 2019, Warren moved to Apple Valley to be with his granddaughter Jennifer and her family, and then to Hinckley to live with them. A devoted father and grandfather, Warren, took great pride in his family and all of those that he loved.

He was passionate about his work and often bragged about his position at the DMV. Warren also had a knack for mechanics and loved working on old cars. Up until the day he passed, he always made comments on traffic too fast.

Warren is survived by his sons Wayne Kocurek of Buffalo, WY, and Warren Kocurek Jr. of Hastings, MN; grandchildren Jennifer (Mitch), Jeannette, Warren III, Kyle, and Katrina (Sean) Melgaard; 10 great-grandchildren; brothers Woody and Walt; and sisters Rosie and Cindy.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Hazel; parents Hyacinth and Woodrow; siblings Nancy, Nina, and Susie; and granddaughter Kelly.

A visitation will be held at 2 pm, with service to follow at 3 pm, Tuesday, April 28th at the Cremation Society of Minnesota, 4100 Grand Ave, in Duluth.
