Rita Mae Acker, 95 of Elk River, MN passed away on April 18, 2026 at Guardian Angels Care Center in Elk River.

She was born on January 9, 1931 in Minneapolis, MN to William Clayton Marshall and Mabel Almina Hofmeister Marshall.

Rita was married to Edwin John Acker on June 28, 1952 at St. Helena’s Catholic Church in Minneapolis.

Rita enjoyed going up to the family lake cabin at Lake Sylvia near Annandale, where there were many special memories made, and later at Renae & Ed's cabin. She was an avid knitter and embroiderer and submitted sweaters to the State Fair where she won ribbons. She founded ‘Knittique’ a small business in her home, knit hundreds of baby sweaters for friends and family as well as donating many. She enjoyed staying in touch with family and friends, and exploring the family tree.

Rita is survived by daughter Renae (Ed) Citrowski, grandchildren Jennifer (Ryan) Magin, Erick (Sheena) Lehet, Corrin (Michael) Bloeser, Daniel (Deb) Citrowski, Sara (Paul) Briggs, Edward Citrowski Jr., great-grandchildren Zach, Josh, Alex, Emma, James, Ashley, Tyler, Sam, Will, Vincent, Andy, Joey, Linney and Kyle. Rita was preceded in death by daughter Janet Lehet and husband Edwin Acker.

A funeral Mass will be held on May 8th, 2026 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 6820 St. Patricks Lane, Edina, MN 55439. Please park in the west lot entering from Gleason Avenue. Visitation starts at 10:00 a.m., followed by mass at 11:00 a.m. After the mass there will be a luncheon in St. Martin’s Hall at the church.
