Helga (“Helgie”) Newcomb, age 84, passed away on April 18, 2026, with her daughter by her side. Helga was a beloved wife, mother, grandma, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend to many. She is preceded in death by parent August Bruns and Auguste Hartz, sister Maggie Fallang, and husband Bob Newcomb. Helga is survived by children Grant Willinger Newcomb and Dina (Jeremy) Thompson, grandchildren Lexi and Reese Thompson, many loving nieces, cousins, relatives, and friends.

At the age of eleven, Helga immigrated to Indianapolis, IN from Germany with her mom and sister. They moved to TX, AZ, UT, and eventually settled in Helena, MT. Helga moved to Minnesota at the age of twenty-two to pursue her dream of traveling the world as a flight attendant with Northwest Airlines. In 1972, she married the love of her life, Bob Newcomb. Together, they shared 52 years of wonderful memories with family and friends. Helga was known for her warmth, singing, stories, strength, and love for people. Her career allowed her to visit many countries, but she always said her favorite place was home with family!

Memorial mass will be held on Wednesday, April 29th at 11 a.m. at St. Odilia Catholic Church, 3495 Victoria Street North, Shoreview, MN. Visitation will take place one hour prior (10 – 11 a.m.). Please join us in celebrating, Helga. We will miss her dearly!
