Robert Charles age 94, long time resident of Forest Lake, Minnesota, formerly of White Bear Lake, Minnesota passed away peacefully on April 12th, 2026, surrounded by family. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Pearl; his brother Dwight; his sisters Dolores and Georgianna; and many cousins and dear friends. Survived by his loving wife of 73 years, Janice; children: Stephen (Donna); Scott (Nancy); Todd (Sheila); Christopher (Kimberley); Kathryn Glashan (Christian); twelve grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Robert grew up in Little Falls, Minnesota and graduated from Little Falls High School in 1950. He met his wife Janice in high school and they were married in 1952. He served during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in Germany where he trained military dogs. Upon his return from service, he graduated from Iowa State University in 1958 with a degree in engineering. After graduation, he began working for Whirlpool as an engineer. He had a long and rewarding career at Whirlpool and retired after 28 years. Robert and Janice enjoyed traveling during his retirement including numerous trips to Europe. He also enjoyed many wonderful summers at the family cabin which he built on Fish Trap Lake in Cushing, MN. As a father and grandparent, he was devoted to family. He set the tone that taught us to value time spent together, to celebrate small moments, and to carry forward traditions such as the annual reading of “Twas the Night before Christmas”, baking Easter cinnamon rolls, and lefse rolling at each family Holiday celebration. A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, April 23rd, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Faith Lutheran Church, 886 N Shore Drive, Forest Lake, Minnesota with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations be made to Believet Canine Service Partners (Believet.org), an organization which pairs veterans with service dogs.
